A Simple Way To Avoid Back Surgery

0

There are millions of Americans that elect to have back surgery to alleviate back pain. While many find it helps over time, the rehabilitation process is difficult, rough, and sometimes ineffective. In fact, many articles have been published about an ailment called Failed Back Surgery Syndrome commonly called FBSS. There is a simple way to avoid back surgery, but first it should be noted that many initial back surgeries fail to improve the pain.

People that suffer from Failed Back Surgery Syndrome often times get additional back surgeries to help decrease pain involved with the results of the initial back surgery. With each major surgery the probability of long term pain relief decreases. Not only is back surgery invasive, and severe, the post surgery rehab has been touted as being extremely difficult. Many patients have found it nearly impossible to return to a full range of motion with their back. While there are a lot of reasons why back surgeries fail, all the most common ones do not involve malpractice. There are many factors that contribute to the failure rate. These include things like Epidural fibrosis, scarring of the nerves in the spine, and other traumas that can be a result in further pain. Further surgeries might also lead to a spinal fusion, which is another painful procedure requiring heavy rehabilitation that limits the movement of the back and proper healing of the muscles. A simple way to avoid back surgery is by getting looked at and cared for by a quality chiropractor.

For those that are considering spinal fusion, make sure you understand the problems that many doctors are now seeing. Because spinal fusion forms a complete lock of certain spinal sections, the upper body load is carried by the surrounding segments increasing the chance of further pain in different regions of the back. So while you’re helping the pain in one area, over time you’ll feel pain in other parts of the lower back, due in large part to misalignment. A 2005 study in the British Medical Journal concluded that those that had back surgery get similar results to those that adhere to an intensive rehabilitation program. However, later issues of the British Medical Journal said that a conclusion could not be reached as to whether or not back fusion surgery would be effective in treating chronic back pain. However, if you ask patients that have gone through the arduous process, they will tell you from first hand experience that this surgery does not have a high frequency of long term effectiveness.

A simple way to avoid back surgery is to consult a chiropractor. Look for a chiropractor that adheres to the NUCCA Method. The method gives a proper foundation of health and stress reduction in the body. The plan of action involves isolating the root causes of chronic back pain, and helps alleviate the pain with proper symmetrical alignment. Alignment of the spine is sometimes compared to the alignment of a car tire. If you do not have proper alignment, you’ll end up feeling chronic pain over time as the body compensates for the load that is placed on the discs in your spine.
Back surgery is never a great option. You owe it to yourself and your family to try alternative medicine. Chiropractors have been showing great success in the area of permanent back pain relief.
